A wonderful combination greets you on this tour as we blend the refined elegance of the city of Bath with the natural charm of the Cotswold Hills and its delightful villages.
On arrival there will be a guided walk followed by optional entry to The Roman Bath.
Around Britain's only hot spring, the Romans built a magnificent temple and bathing complex that still flows with natural hot water.
At the Roman Baths museum you will see the water's source and walk where Romans walked on the ancient stone pavements and of course see the baths themselves. An audio guide with excellent commentary, to help you understand the history, is provided as part of admission.
The city was beautifully re-invented in the 18th century when it became the fashionable place to see and be seen. Elegant crescents, squares and terraces were built as the rich and famous travelled from London for "the season" to relieve themselves of rheumatic diseases, stiffness of the joints and gout.
Georgian Bath is the core of this elegant city today, including the famous Royal Crescent, Royal Circus and the Assembly Rooms - the world of Jane Austen novels. Jane Austen lived in Bath for part of her life and a couple of her most famous titles are set here, there is also a Jane Austen Centre celebrating her life and work.
Bath is a regional shopping centre and hub with more than enough to see and do in a few days, so use your time wisely here.
It is around a 2 hour journey to Windsor, nearly all along motorway/freeway grade roads..
Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen and has been home to the Sovereign for over 900 years.
The Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest in continuous occupation. The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world's most spectacular skylines.
